    Help needed on installation

    I am trying to install Kubuntu 7.10

    When I boot from the live cd, it acts like it's loading, and then a command prompt screen comes up and says:

    ubuntu@ubuntu:~$

    Is there a way to install Kubuntu from this prompt?

    Thanks,
    Sawyer

    What computer are you installing on? I installed on an old Dell a couple of weekends ago. I had a similar problem.

        Have you tried using the Alt-Install CD?

            Re: Help needed on installation

            It isn't a Live-CD and offers more on the lines of a "generic" install interface. Has been what many used here for problem systems. Works a good bit of the time. Dibl could probably give better pointers on that.

            From the Download pages:
            Alternate install CD

            The alternate install CD allows you to perform certain specialist installations of Kubuntu. It provides for the following situations:

            * creating pre-configured OEM systems;
            * setting up automated deployments;
            * upgrading from older installations without network access;
            * LVM and/or RAID partitioning;
            * installs on systems with less than about 320MB of RAM (although note that low-memory systems may not be able to run a full desktop environment reasonably).

            In the event that you encounter a bug using the alternate installer, please file a bug on the debian-installer package.

            There are two images available, each for a different type of computer:

              I got it to work in Graphics compatibility mode

              One more question:
              How do you uninstall Kubuntu?

                Do you mean remove kubuntu from ubuntu. Or install a different OS?
