since the folders are now done in dolphin, and I use firefox as my browser(in fact I like konqueror better but gutsy konqueror gives me errors each time) do I have any need of Konqueror, can I remove it from the taskbar and even go further.

Task bar yes. System removal NO! Konqueror is tied into many other packages used by the OS. If you want to see just how many, open a console and type:
and be amazed at just how much of your system will be removed if you actually remove Konqueror!Code:sudo apt-get remove --simulate konqueror
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
