my dreamweaver MX doesn't on WINE..

Can anyone help me with this..?
'Coz I can't make my Dreamweaver
work on WINE. Do I have to make
    changes on WINE's configuration?
Or do I have to use another program?

Doesn't look like you're going to have much luck with Wine.

You can try one of the many Linux HTML editing programs - though none have exactly the same featureset as Dreamweaver - or you could buy Crossover Office which apparently works.

In my very humble experience forget dreamweaver of any version with wine or crossover.

There are plenty of posts here about getting DW, Flash, etc going with vmware player; a few are mine. I'll have a look but have to leave the office for now.

In the mean time you can start here providing you still have a fairly stable win install:

and have a look at sharing files with samba and installing vmware player

Hmm..I think your right. There seem to be no better solution than the VM ware.
It's not that so 'Linuxy' thing to do tough..hehe...but I'd still take your advice.. I just hope someday, Macromedia would be kind enough to make a Linux version of the Dreameaver.

Or a version of flash, photoshop, illustrator. I guess we can dream for a while until............Adobe gets its senses.

Does that mean it doesn't work, or that it works but still forget it...

I read in a blog how someone was trying to run (sharp intake of breath) IrfanView under Wine. Being rather perverse I tried it and , yes, it did not work. I later installed Wine-Doors and, surprise, it did work. I have also recently tried a French program called "PlayOnLinux". So there is Wine, Wine-Doors (like Wine+) and PlayOnLinux (like Wine++)

Now Wine-Doors does facilitate the download and install of DreamWeaver 8 - I assume the time-limited trial version, Saying that I couldn't get it to work.

But there are websites about Dreamweaver working with Wine e.g.:

"HOWTO: Install Dreamweaver MX 2004 on wine" at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=200305 ; and (Frank's Corner) Dreamweaver MX at http://frankscorner.org/index.php?p=dreamweavermx

DW MX will work but veeeeeeery slowly and crash a lot. if you want to be productive, go the vmware route

Dreamweaver MX might not work, but Dreamweaver 8 works great!

I am biased, I will admit it

Maybe on its own, try editing some graphics for the web in PS CS (gimp is not a choice for me) and running a DW session (setting up a Mysql DB or joomla! based site) at the same time.

sorry vmware is the way to go. i can have my xin xp running in the background without hicupping my system, and click to it whenever I need adobe stuff

Re: my dreamweaver MX doesn't on WINE..

Ei guys, thanks to all of your replies..I really appreciate it.
I've already tried using WINE for my Dreamweaver MX, it didn't
work. CrossOver..it worked, but errors pop-up once in a while.
Now, I that I'm about to format my PC and install Kubuntu
again. I guess I'll give Dreamweaver 8 a try. But if it still fails
or if errors still pops-up, I'll use VM then.

                        Thanks to y'all! (^_^)
