I cant install kubuntu 7.10 from live cd.

I am having problems installing kubuntu from live cd on my laptop, well getting it to start actually. The menu appears and i select start or install. then shortly after it shows a black screen with a curser in the left top corner and the disc stops and nothing happens. ive tried different download sources and i have got the real cd.

I have an asus laptop, which has an ati radeon xpress graphics card if that helps.

help please!
