    Fingerprint applications

    I have SGS Thomson Microelectronics Fingerprint Reader, and want an application to use it.. Running Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon.. Any suggestions?

    As far as I can tell what you need is thinkfinger
    Unfortunately its not in the standard repos but there are instructions for getting it with ubuntu at

    That provides the driver and you then need some app called pam to set it up with, or at least thats my impression from that page.

    Although I just noticed that at the bottom it unfortunately says:
    Integration in KDE and kdm seems not to be easily possible now. There is a filed bug at kde.org where you can vote for this.
    Mind you if you just want it for a specific app then just the driver (without kdm integration) may be enough for you. Anyhow, good luck.

      I thought that the information came from here, but I got my reader working with fprint which is in the repos.
