    removeable drive won't mount

I'm super new, just got breezy in yesterday.
A lot of things went well, I somehow managed to get firefox loaded.
Now I'm trying to use a USB removeable hard drive to transfer files from the win machine and I get this error when I plug it in.
"An error occurred while loading media:/sdb1
The file or folder media:/sdb1 does not exist"

I found my way to the 'configure - KDE control module' for disk & filesystems,
and I see the removeable drive there unlike my main drive, it does not have 'enabled' next to where it says /dev/sdb1.
Also, everything is grayed out in this screen and when I click administrator mode and enter the password, it still says at the top of the module "changes in this section require root access" so I'm pretty stuck at this point.
As usual, I would greatly appreciate any help from the ether.

    Thanks - Joel

Try upgrading KDE to 3.5.1...If I remember correctly, both of your problems (not able to get into admin mode on kcontrol and auto-mount errors) are bugs in 3.4.3. (Maybe someone with a better memory can verify this :P)

Search the forums on how to upgrade if you need more information

Sure enough I've got KDE 3.4.3.
      Back to the learning curve.

      Thank you Kubicle!

Well, the learning curve is still there and steep, but I got lucky this time around.
I went to adept, clicked full upgrade and commit changes.
I didn't get kde 3.5.2 I still have 3.4.3, but when I restarted the machine, there was my removeable drive on the desktop!

I guess I'll have to search for a few answers to figure out what I did, and what I need to do when I actually _do_ want to get kde 3.5.1
