    displaying fonts

    Another question on fonts.

I have a CD with 827 True Type Fonts on it.

I can copy them over to my hard disk and install all of them.

But then when I go to choose a font, the list is overwhelming - TOO MANY.

I would like to go through the fonts and just copy over the ones that I find valuable.

Downloaded fontforge, but for viewing fonts it isn't any good.

Is there a font viewing program available, that would let me browse through a directory of fonts and view them??

There are other font viewers. You might look at gfontview (an older program).
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Beautiful - EXACTLY what I needed.

The only font viewer I have seen that will display uninstalled fonts.

      Great. Thanks,

        Re: displaying fonts

Just found/stumbled on a very quick way to accomplish what I want.

Open the directory in Konqueror and pause the cursor on the font file name - Konqueror pops open a window with statics on the file and displays the font in various sizes.

A real quick way to view the fonts.!.!.!.!

And once again, another testimonial on the fact that with Linux, there is almost always more than one way to get something done!
