    A few questions...;D

    Hi,

    So I got my internet working on my Kubuntu, So the questions are:
    1) How do I find out what version of kubuntu I am using...It is not for me but for my friend
    2)I have wine installed but I would like to know how to install compiz fusion on my Kubuntu 7.10. I tried Adept manager but it always gives me an error. Now you will say that I shoud have compiz installed because I have 7.10 but I just don't know how to start it!!!
    3) I have an Epson Stylus D92 and would like to use it quite fast how can I do that? Is there a patch so I can use it with Kubuntu because the OS didn't recognise it!!!

      1) Worked
      2)I always get this for the first command: Reading package lists... Done
      Building dependency tree
      Reading state information... Done
      Package compiz is not available, but is referred to by another package.
      This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
      is only available from another source
      E: Package compiz has no installation candidate
      and for the second command: The program 'compiz' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
      sudo apt-get install compiz-core
      bash: compiz: command not found
      ...and I tried the sudo apt-get install compiz-core but that didn't work either!

      and for 3) It recognises the printer in the add-->add printer/class-->next-->local printer--> and I can choose there in the USB section Epson Stylus D92 and I click next and I tells me to choose printer manufacturer and model but I cannot find the Model!!! Just D88

        Oh yeah and I would like to know how to install firefox too. i Have the version 2.0.0.11 downloaded and got a tar.gz file...what do I do with it?

          2) What does your sources list say about what repositories are available. Open Konsole (Terminal Program) and input:
          kdesu kate /etc/apt/sources.list
          Then copy and paste the answer into this post.

          3) Try installing the D88 and see what happens.

          4)One of the easy ways to install Firefox is to use the script called "ubuntuzilla" from here: http://ubuntuzilla.wiki.sourceforge.net/

            For Firefox, I would install the proper package rather than install from a tar.gz file, that way it stays updated properly.

            in your /etc/apt/sources.list file, uncomment the repos near the bottom. Then run 'sudo aptitude update'. Then 'sudo aptitude install firefox' and that should install firefox for you.

            To save you time in the future, while you are in the CLI, installing the medibuntu repos will get you nonfree (closed-source) programs, like Flash player, libdvdcss2 (To watch DVDs), win32codecs (for Windows media files), and Adobe Reader.

              I checked the open printing database on your printer.

              Looks like it can be made to work, but the printing will be slow.
