Connecting Kubuntu 7.10 to Verizon DSL

I have just installed 7.10 and want to use my Verizon DSL connection. The Verizon account is activated and is working on my Windows ME system. The modem is a Westell DSL2 + router Model 6100. It is connected to the PC via USB. I can see that the USB connection is recognized, but after hat nothing.

I need a set of instructions to get 7.10 to recognize the connection and use it. I am relatively new to Linux, so I need detail. With all the traffic out there on this subject I can't be the only one having trouble. But, it seems that all that help isn't doing much good.

ennis, cold and out of communication in Wisconsin.

Can you access the router at all?

I'm using Verizon DSL with the Actiontec ethernet router from Verizon and can access the router via Firefox at the router address. I believe the address is universal for local access.

Once I had the router access over the ethernet network with Firefox, All I had to do was give the router the Verizon account name and password and the router then handled internet access via DSL and Verizon.

If you can get access to the router via Firefox, then the rest is easy.

I have a Westell Modem connected via USB. I don't have Firefox. Firefox is grayed out in Add/Remove Programs.

      Next!
