    SMB Shares

Hi there, please forgive my ignorance as im a new Kubuntu user.

I have installed Kubuntu 7.10 in dual boot config with Windows Vista (problematic to start - but solved it lata, come to the conclusion that Grub and EasyBCD make up random boot paths)

The Problem i have is as follows.....

I have a NAS drive attached to my network which i can read and write to using my Vista OS and my XP laptop and EEE PC, but in Kubuntu when i open Dolphin and click Network (left hand side) and the select samba shares i get an error saying 'Unable to find any workgroups in your local network. this might be caused by an enabled firewall'. However if i type SMB://storage/ in the address bar of dolphin i am able to read all my shared files.

I have created a bookmark in dolphin using smb://storage and i can access all the files on the drive but i cant seem to find a way to 'map' a network drive so i can create a shortcut on the desktop.

Subsequently i cant add my music collection to amarok as it wont allow me to search a bookmark.....

Im assuming if this driver were to be mapped then amarok would allow me to search it??

Any ideas on how to get this problem solved?

The firewall i have installed is Firestarter this is currently disabled.
I have installed Samba, smbfs and smb4k.

    Re: SMB Shares

Don't have time for a full answer (I have an early start tomorrow morning!) but it's possible to add a line to your /etc/fstab, that will automatically mount the share as it does the rest of your partitions...

So, you'd mount it to (say) /mnt/storage or /resources or something, and then treat it like a normal part of your filesystem.
