    dvd rom not accessible

I have just noticed that my dvd tray won't open when button pushed. The only thing that might be causing behavior is that I installed Virtualbox with win2000 guest. Within the win2000 VM the only optical drive showing up is VBOX CDrom. It doesn't show up on MyComputer or or on Add/Remove Hardware or on Everest Home Edition (diagnostic program) in the win2000 VM. However I have a dual boot win2000 installation and dvdrom shows up there and button opens dvd tray. Could anyone help

The 'shared CD-ROM' device can't be accessed simultaneously. If you have Virtualbox running, and it is setup to use your CD-ROM, then you aren't going to have access to it in Linux.

Thanks for response. Must have been some temporary glitch. I came to my computer this morning and dvdrom tray was open and closed when button pushed. It also works within win2000 VM. Would be nice to know what was happening.
