Well, on 2 of my computers, very same hardware, Dell XPS 410
One of them is running Ubuntu 7.10 32 bits and the other one is running Kubuntu 7.10 32 bits. On the one running Ubuntu, Avidemux will virtually never crash, on the one that is running Kubuntu, Avidemux will crash sometimes. "Weird Stuff" I must say. KDE is my desktop environment of choice.
Same hardware, same Avidemux version, same video file.

But then again......
Some apps just work better with gnome than with kde. Compiz is another case in point.

Vice versa is true as well.

I guess it has something to do with the different structure of each desktop. Linux is about choice but that doesn't mean it is less confusing at times
