    Help uninstalling and reinstalling Kubuntu

I'm in the process of moving from win XP to a more stable OS environment, I choose Kubuntu and installed it few days ago in a dual boot in a separate partition in a single HD (80 Ghz) with win XP home. In the begining I was able to boot to ubuntu but I was unable to config internet or e-mail to be able to log to the web and have some aps. So I read the instructions for new guys at the forum and I tried to reconfigure it in the shell but definitely I cause even more problems because now I'm unable to reach the log in screen, because it stops before finishing loading kubuntu and ask me for user name, password, and it doesn't move from there. I have to manually turn the computer off to be able to re-boot to windows.
I would like to uninstall and then re-installed kubunt in the same partition to have a clean start and correct whatever problems I could caused while trying to fix it.
Please tell me how can I do that uninstall-reinstall and also how to correctly configure my internet connection. I connect to internet with a cable modem (toshiba) that is connected to the PC via USB port (I don't have ethernet connector).
    Thanks for your help.

I think the hard part is the Internet connection, which I don't know about (mine auto-configures like cake each time).

Easy part is to reformat your Kubuntu partition(s) using GParted Live CD (get the live CD download). Then re-install Kubuntu, observing:
