file associations - how do I set them???

I *hate* it when documentation tells you about something, but not how to GET to it so you can actually USE the information. What a waste of everyone's time.

Case in point: KDE Help Center > File Associations: Nice article. Anyone have ANY idea how to USE this stuff? The K-Menu > System Settings function certainly offers no help.

Why the big mystery? This is a basic need - to set file associations.

What am I missing? (Most important to me right now is to learn HOW to find this information, so I can be more helpful to myself.)

    Thanks, in advance...for any help

    Hi,

I find that the default 'system settings' in the Kmenu is inadequate. Granted it is less cluttered for simplicity for newer users but it is lacking.

You can add the full Control Centre to the Kmenu by:
    (1) Right-click on Kicker (the taskbar) and clicking 'configure panel...'
    (2) Click on the 'Menus' icon on the left
    (3) Scroll down and check-mark the 'Settings' option in the Optional menus section

After that you can go into the Kmenu and access the File associations section by going into:
    Kmenu>Settings>KDE Components>File Associations

You can also get to this from the konqueror configuration dialog.

Yeah - I only just found out about this. I don't see why this isn't available from the KMenu out of the box.
