root password

Hi:  I installed kubuntu that I downloaded yesterday.  Everything worked fine and I can log on as user with password set up during installation.

However, I can not get into root.  Either I am using the wrong syntax or there is a way to set up a password which I dont know.

Sorry, that's not entirely your fault, it's just that every other post on these boards is asking about this.
