    mouse right-click context menu

I've searched the system Help, and these forums, and I still cannot get documentation on how to edit this menu. Mine is cluttered with program names which don't work, so I need to clean it up. How in the world can I do this?

I see that this question was asked here over a year ago, but there appears to have been no answer.

I'd really like to solve this puzzle.

    Thanks!

      Re: mouse right-click context menu

There's all sorts of right-click context menu stuff out there (via Google)...and it's all about WINDOWS. No, it isn't a KDE issue, it's an OS issue - something Kubuntu's doing, and there's no documentation that I can find.

When I access the file system via, Dolphin, I right click on various menus, and the context menus offers to do a number of things, including (usually) open the file. My problem is that it shows a number of programs which I had briefly installed - wrongly - editors and such - which no longer exist. Garbage, in other words. The content from the context menu is coming from somewhere, and I ought to be able to edit that 'somewhere', if I could find it.

That's the problem. Junk on my context menu. Not the biggest problem I have, but definitely annoying. This is NOT a problem addressable by the K-menu editor, and I simply cannot find anything about it via Google.

      Any ideas, anyone?

Does the problem you describe, only occur in Dolphin, or does it also present itself in Konqueror?

          Re: mouse right-click context menu

Dolphin and Konqueror (KDE programs) use file associations:

Press <Alt> + <F2> and type "kcontrol" -> Control Centre starts > KDE Components > File Associations

There you can change Application Preference Order and Add/Edit/Remove applications.

          Example:
          - type .txt in the Find filename pattern
          - click plus sign in the front of text (Known Types)
          - click "plain"

Now you can change Application Preference Order and Add/Edit/Remove applications.

Also service menus will be shown when you right click object in the Konqueror/Dolphin view.

          From Creating Konqueror Service Menus
          http://developer.kde.org/documentati...vicemenus.html
In KDE-speak a "servicemenu" is a special entry that appears in Konqueror's context menu depending on the file(s) that are selected. You may have seen them in action without even knowing it. For instance, if you have the KDE file archive utility "ark" installed you will see a menu entry to "Extract here..." whenever you right click on a tarball or zip file. The option to "Extract here..." is a servicemenu.

Thank you very much. I didn't know about the KDE control center, and this completely fixed my right click context menu problem in Konqueror/Dolphin. Super!
