Hello everyone. Just down loaded and installed Kubuntu 7.10. everything seems to be working fine except two things. First I cannot play dvds. I have tried both Kaffiene and VLC. The next issue is an external hard drive.It shows up fine but when I try to access it I get this error, hal storage removable mount all options refused uid 1000. Both issues solved. Concerning the hard drive I right clicked, chose properties, clicked on the mounting tab. At the bottom the is a check box the says mount as user. I unchecked the box and now I have access. Concerning the dvd. Not really sure what I did but my dvds will play in VLC.Comment

HOWTO: Get commercial DVD playback in Kaffeine will ensure that you have everything installed for playing DVDs in Kaffeine.Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Didn't scroll down past darkman's 'long post' so didn't catch that. What the heck, so we both gave darkman the same Christmas gift!
