Downloaded Kubuntu 7.10-dvd i386, now what?
Hello,
I am using xp now, and thinking to reformat my desktop and install Kubuntu, i have look for articles about how to install kubuntu step by step, but all of them are not specific and they always assumed that you want to install Kubuntu in an already os driven desktop/system (i mean double OS on one system) and using Live CD.
I have downloaded finish Kubuntu 7.10 dvd iso by torrent, and it is still seeding by the time i am typing this.
My desktop specs
Intel Pentium 4 2.66ghz 2.70ghz 512mb of ram. (i know it is old, but no money to buy a new system >_<)
Nvidia 6600GT
Samsung Hard disk 80gb with no partition
I would like to ask some newbie question, which probably you guy had answered before (so sorry about it, but i tried the search function and i am at lost)
1. What should i do now? do i need to burn it to DVD first, or can i install Kubuntu directly(using daemon tools or something like that)
2. If i can install directly, is it mean i will lost all my files as in reformat everything?
3. My graphic card is Nvidia 6600 GT, when i search for available driver, i choose Linux Display Driver - x86 is it correct?
4. What is Live CD, was the one that i downloaded is a Live, i downloaded it from Kubuntu site.
5. Are there any more requirements to install Kubuntu?
6. Oh one more thing, maybe this look like an idiot question, do i need driver for cd-r/dvd rom drive installed first before in install the OS if i to re-format the desktop?
>_<
Thank you in advance.
