    Dual boot question

Hi. I'm relatively new to Linux. (No command line understanding yet) I have recently set up a dual boot of Ubuntu 7.10 on a newer Vista computer of mine.

I recently got my hands on a slightly older computer and never having tried Kubuntu, I was thinking about installing it on it. However, I'm also interested in trying PCLinuxOS to compare the two. So, my question is...

Assuming both distros will work on the computer, is setting up a dual boot as simple as first installing PCLinuxOS, followed by Kubuntu?

      Re: Dual boot question

Yes. But if a second hard drive is involved, and especially if Vista is involved, plan carefully.

Plan out what you are going to do ahead of time. Then use GParted Live CD to do the partitioning.
Decide where you will have the installer put GRUB.
The answer should be: Put it in the Master Boot Record of the drive (hd0).
Use the Live Desktop Kubuntu CD to install.
Select "Manual" as the partitioning method.
Step 6: Lower right, click the Advanced button: specify (hd0) for GRUB.

You don’t want to mess up Vista.
EDIT: I re-read your post -- looks like Vista is NOT involved on this machine, right?
