    Another newbie. Problems with screen.

Hi all! I've recently installed Kubuntu on my desktop PC, and I'm having some problems to configure it. After the installation everything seemed fine. But Kubuntu told that I may want to install the restricted drivers for my ATI Radeon 9600XT video card. I did so, and everything went fine, but after the restart I'm not able to see anything on my screen.

I have the PC connected to a LCD TV via VGA, and I can see Kubuntu starting but when the systems reaches the login screen the resolution may change or something and my TV shows a message saying "Resolution not supported". As I don't have any other screen I'm not able to change the resolution. What can I do?

Another problem that I have is that, I don't have internet connection right now at home so I have to wait until I arrive to work every day to search for solutions every time I encounter a problem (which happens a lot as I'm new to Linux). Can you recommend me any good book for Kubuntu?

When everything settles down on your computer press Alt+Ctl+F1. This should take you away from xserver and into terminal mode. (Can you see that?)

    In terminal mode input
    sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
This will start a text-based wizard which will allow you to reconfigure your hardware. Answer the questions you can. If there are questions you can't answer then go with the given default answer. If at first you don't succeed than try again, making small changes. If all else fails choose VESA and that should get you back in.

( A different, but hopefully unnecessary, way of doing it of course is to remove the restricted driver : sudo apt-get remove [packagename])

A good book on Kubuntu? That's a hard one. "The Official Ubuntu Book" (now in it's second edition?) has sections on Kubuntu.
