    amd64 Version on Inetl x86_64

I recently built an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 desktop and was hoping to dual boot Windows and Linux. I've been experimenting with Linux on old machines and virtual environments for a while and feel it is time. I got 4 gigs of RAM for the machine (for dual channel mostly) but figured that I should go with the 64 bit version of Linux to get full use out of the 4 gigs. Anyway, when I was downloading the Kubuntu ISO I noticed that there was no x86_64 version, but only an amd64 version. My question is, will this work on Intel? If not is there a trunk build or something with an Intel supported version? Thanks for your help, in advance, Kubuntu forum.

    Short answer -- YES.

They're still referring to "AMD64" but that version is actually for both AMD and the Intel chips that are 64-bit such as yours and mine.

That's what I thought and what I was hoping. Thanks for the short answer to such a long question.
