Whenever I try to add my printer by clicking on "print" in the system settings, the "Initializing manager..." window pops up and just sits there, it never gets past that. I eventually have to kill the process. Consequently, I am unable to set up my printer. Can anyone offer any ideas?

Re: "Print" in systemsettings hangs at "Initializing manager..."
When I tried the Dapper live cd, the print manager worked great! So I figured, yay, a solution, so I upgraded my distro to dapper, and no... still hangs. I would REALLY appreciate it if someone could help me out here. I have to re-boot into windows just to print things. What a pain.

Try going into a konsole and typing "kdesu kcontrol". That's the old, non-kubuntu-ized version of the KDE configuration utility. A lot of people like it better. In this case, it might work where system settings doesn't. I can't be sure of that because system settings doesn't fail for me.

Re: "Print" in systemsettings hangs at "Initializing manager..."
I installed GNOME (just out of curiosity) and all of the printing stuff worked just fine there. I mean, I wasn't able to successfully print out a page or anything, but I was at least able to configure the printers and such. I figured maybe if I was able to configure the printer in GNOME I would be able to go back to KDE and use the printers I added, but whenever I try to print in any application, it hangs!
