Adept not fetching updates

I installed Kubutnu 7.10 from the CD and have three issues.

1) Adept refuses to fetch the packages. I have checked the sources.list and uncommented it. The net works fine. I have tried sudo apt-get-update and the same issue.
In the terminal I get

However at the same time I can point my browser to archive.ubuntu.com so net connectivity is not a issue

2) During installation the PC speakers work , but on reboot, kubuntu refuses to detect the speakers (worked under Edgy).
3) The microphone is not detected. It was working fine under Edgy

The problem seems to be IPV6 which is apparently not supported by my DLink DSL502T modem. Konqueror worked but Firefox and Opera did not. I am posting the solution in case any one has the same issue.

In firefox use about:config to disable ipv6.

However a better solution is to disable ipv6 altogether. This will make Adept too work seamlessly

To disable IPv6 at OS level
in /etc/modprobe.conf modify the following line: alias net-pf-10 off (ADD THE OFF )

and reboot.

Opera is working fine now..Gotta dl Firefox and set up my extensions...
