I am going to instal kubuntu on my fileserver very soon. I have 2 other windozes machine that i want to connect to the fileserer. Anything I should do to make the install easier?

OK, there's not really anything special to do during the installation of Kubuntu. Assuming you plan to use Samba file sharing, after you've installed Kubuntu, you'll want to install the Samba package (if it's not included by default in the server version).
Then you can make like a student and learn how to configure the /etc/smb.conf file so your Windows users can log in to the Linux system where the shared files are.
