Screen Saver

Gooday all. Among other problems that I am working through, I am having trouble getting the screen saver to work. I have done all the obvious things like selecting what I want as screen saver, click apply, click save, but to no avail. Suggestions?

Problems with the screensaver seem to be ongoing with KDE. It has been reported as a bug as far back as version 3.5.2 and the bug has been reported as fixed but it still seems to be a problem. I have had problems with it, and it seems related to the power saving settings. I finally got mine working by inserting the line;

DPMS-dependent=false

to the /home/user/.kde/share/config/kdesktoprc file in the [Screensaver] section.

I found this hint at linuxquestions.org. It worked for me.
