hi i have downloaded jdk-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.bin. but not sure about the commands used to install java. help plz, thnx in advance.........

The way explained in this post worked for me. Look at the 5th reply and follow those instructions.

N.B. Make sure before you start following these instructions, the Java download is where you want it installed.
