I can't Shutdown

when I shout down the computer, terminal screen display followings (last 4 lines) and stuck.

*Deactivating swap [ok]
*Unmounting local file systems [ok]
*will now halt
-

But restart work properly. Please any one can help me . I like to continue with kubuntu.

What you are seeing is actually okay. Once you see the message "will now halt" you can power off the PC.

After display the massage "Will now halt" I have no way to shutdown
if i use power button start nexttime same screen appear withaddition
following lines
[304.46005] suspend-device() usb_suspend+0X0/0x20 [usbcore]()returns -108
[304.46227] could not suspend-device 1-1 error -108

Is this happend because of my ADSL router which is connected by usb. but it work with kubuntu 6.06 I never face this kind of situation.

I’ve had the problem since 6.10—shutdown and/or restart problems. Mine were fixed as I said in the thread link. Maybe one will work for you.

If you search on
shutdown restart
you'll find more solutions, some are specific to the hardware (eg, certain Dell laptops etc.)

(BTW, my mobo is Intel D915GAVL, embedded Intel GMA900 graphics.)

use this command > it checks for the errors at the next restart.

go to terminal

type sudo touch /forcefsck.

close the terminal

restart.

i tried this and the black screen never comes now. just try and post ur expereance.
