preoblems with my harddrives and external hardrive

    preoblems with my harddrives and external hardrive

    I just installed kubuntu 7.10 gutsy gibbon. But when i try to access my other harddrive it´s says

    hal-storage-fixed-mount-all-options refused uid 1000

    same happens when i try to access my externa hardrive.

    How do i solve this provlem?

    And can i install windows on my computer to and run both?

    On this forum menu (at the top), click on Search, then enter this:

    hal-storage-fixed-mount-all-options refused uid 1000

    You'll get several results.

      Yes, you can dual boot with Windows and Kubuntu.

        Are these ntfs file system partitions? If you aren't sure about this are they partitions that were formatted under windowsxp?

            I don't think the situation has changed for gutsy. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

            If you don't already have it - Install ntfs-3g using the adept package manager (kmenu-system-adept).

            Then give us the output of

            lshw -C disk

              format can be
              -html output hardware tree as HTML
              -xml output hardware tree as XML
              -short output hardware paths
              -businfo output bus information

              options can be
              -class CLASS only show a certain class of hardware
              -C CLASS same as '-class CLASS'
              -disable TEST disable a test (like pci, isapnp, cpuid, etc. )
              -enable TEST enable a test (like pci, isapnp, cpuid, etc. )
              -quiet don't display status

              this happen when i write that.

              I tried write sudo ntfs-config to but it doesn.t work for my external HD....it worked for my slave drive

                It's not a c and a dash its a dash and a capital C
