    Some questions....

Hi guys (girls) i really appreciate yr help around here. I have some questions and decided to drop them all in one go

    1. I've installed Skype. All is working good BUT my microphone is not working (i can hear the other party but they can't hear me). How to set it up? And there's no video option. Is it available somehow? Do i have to install something?

2.My wifes wants her own browser (netscape navigator). I download it in Ark. Netscape says i must open a konsol and type ./netscape/navigator and it will install. It doesn't How to do that?

3.Is uTorrent working with GG? Do i need Wine?

That's about it for now....thanks for helping again...

    2. A quick google turned up this; according to which the commands should actually be
    cd navigator
    ./navigator
to be run as two seperate commands.
That said any particular reason for using netspace over firefox (which is in the repositories)?

    3. Have you tried using ktorrent instead? (don't really know much about utorrent myself)

Sometimes on a computer the microphone is muted.Open the Mixer (from Volume) and go to Input. A green light at the top means that something is muted. Have a look at the Skype for Linux Sound Setup page at http://www.skype.com/help/guides/soundsetup_linux.html

      2) there's no video option. Is it available somehow? Do i have to install something?

Unfortunately Skype in Linux does not have video support yet. You could try Ekiga SIP phone (which will phone another SIP phone not Skype) ,or Kopete Instant Messenger, or I've still to investigate TokBox at http://www.tokbox.com/index.php

"I download it in Ark. Netscape says i must open a konsol and type ./netscape/navigator and it will install. It doesn't How to do that?"

It is important to understand that the dot . signifies the working directory. You have to be positioned in the proper directory so that the path makes sense. In other words, If you put the file into /junk and then used ark to decompress it(and build the directory strucutre) you likely have /junk/netscape and navigator will be in the netscape directory. You would therefore have to be in the /junk directory to run the above command which would then be equivalent to /junk(mypresentdirectory)/netscape/navigator. Any other directory and the system will be trying to find a netscape subdirectory in whatever directory you happen to be in.
Another alternative is simply to find out which directory the actual navigator executable is in, change to that directory, and then do
        ./navigator

which will simply look for navigator in the directory you happen to be in.

uTorrent seems to work very well under Linux when you have Wine installed.

There is also a Linux equivelant - KTorrent - which is in the repositories.
