    Desktop Environment is not loading...

i Installed Ubuntu 7.10 server on my computer and package kubuntu-desktop after. Everything was working ok. Some days later i got the message that updates are available... installed ...restarted and kubuntu loaded but in screen resolution 600x480, i choose my graphic card manually, and after restarting the kubuntu is loading in command line.... how i can load the desktop environment and load every time the pc is restarting?

Then go to the Advanced Tab.

It would seem from the number of google hits this gets that many people don't know how do do this, I myself didn't even realize there was an advanced tab.

Kubuntu could tell you what is wrong:

              From HOWTO : Repairing xorg.conf

              Check what is wrong:
Xorg.0.log is log file for X Windowing Server. It is in /var/log/.

              In text mode:
              Code:
              :~$ nano /var/log/Xorg.0.log
"nano is a small, free and friendly editor".

              Markers in the Xorg.0.log
Markers: (--) probed, (**) from config file, (==) default setting,
(++) from command line, (!!) notice, (II) informational,
(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
              Just looking errors:
              Code:
              :~$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "(EE)"
              Just looking warnings:
              Code:
              :~$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "(WW)"
