    feisty: grub problem on ntfs+usb

I have this stupid situation when simple particular problems join their forces to be one big hopless primal mass of problems.

Having bought an external disk case (USB) and a 500Gb SATA made me automatically install Kubuntu Feisty from a LiveCD that I once aquired.
It made all partitioning on the new drive (as a fourth and fifth partition) and automatically gave me GRUB headache in a form of Error 18 and Error 21 during the boot.

As I imagine, the poor GRUB cannot access data on a disk connected through a USB, or something, so I thought, I'll revert to my Windows install, back it up on the USB disk, install Kubuntu on my main drive and be happy.

So I started my Kubuntu LiveDVD again.

What happened next is a situation, where I cannot enter my NTFS (sda1) drive to edit GRUBs configuration due to lack of NTFS support, I cannot fetch ntfs-3g and other packages from apt-get or the package manager (the manager is unable to find anything for ntfs, and apt-get says ntfs-3g is my personal fantasy)

Providing that I don't want to erase my Windows partition, as I have vital data there, I am stuck and seek help.

Here's two references that may help you sort this out, or perhaps better formulate what the glitch may be:
