Hi all after the pain of vista i decided to do linux. i loaded both Ubuntu and kubuntu currently I'm going to go with the KDE rather than Gnome. i never ever used Linux before so I'm sure that I'll be asking some rather lame questions to you all here. i did however go and buy Linux for dummies I figured it was a first good book to buy for a greenhorn. I don't have Linux loaded on my main machine yet. it is howevr loaded on my spare machine. i figured another good place to start without messing anything up that i need for work at the moment. so with that said here goes. time to learn Linux.

Re: This is new for me
Welcome!
Beginning Ubuntu Linux, by Keir Thomas, is another pretty good book, both for solving those "introductory" problems that you're embarrassed to ask about, and then as a long-term reference for folks who don't remember bash commands very well. :P
