    Changing Icons

I'd like to change the "blue marble" icons that are used in KDE apps. An example of what I mean would be the first five in the Konqueror toolbar. They just look too similar for my tastes.
So what I'm trying to find out is:

Are they individual files of some standard format that I could use gimp to edit?

If they are "embedded" in a binary is there still a way to change them short of
    getting into the source code?

Are the icons shared between KDE apps (If i make the front and back icons into
green arrows will the change be global?)

And one last question. Can anyone point to a good reference on making / editing
    KDE themes?

Update I think http://www.kde-look.org/ has the info I need.

    Re: Changing Icons

kde-look is pretty good, although youll have to let me know if you find out a tutorial on there because i couldnt find one.

the icons should be editable by themselves. i believe they are located in /usr/share/icons
then look at apps, or kde basic
