    Graphics at Login screen

    Just installed Kubuntu 7.10 and pretty excited with it.
    Simple question (I think): I tried to change my user picture in the login menu from System Settings->Login Manager->Users->User Images in Administrator Mode. While it did change the image it also changed the login screen from whatever cool default theme to a grey box-feel thing.
    I tried to change it back from the Appearance tab but whatever GUI style I choose it remains the same.
    Please help...

    Hmm - it should not. Trying - here it is working normal way.

    You could:

    Install kdmtheme - theme manager for KDM
    kdmtheme is a theme manager for KDM. It provides a KDE Control Module (KCM)
    that allows you to easily install, remove and change your KDM themes.
    Note
    In Gutsy KDM-themes are disabled by default !

    So =>

    Backup /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc

    alt + f2: kdesudo kate /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc

    Look:
    # Greeter config for all displays
    [X-*-Greeter]

    # Whether the greeter should be themed.
    # Default is false
    #UseTheme=true

    Change ==>

    # Whether the greeter should be themed.
    # Default is false
    UseTheme=true

    Restart

    K > System Settings > Appearance > KDM Theme Manager
    In Administrator mode: Check that you are using Kubuntu 02 (default)
    Apply

    Restart

    CustomizeKubuntu

    From /usr/share/doc/kde-kdm-themes/README.Debian
    kdm-theme-krystal for Debian
    ----------------------------

    * how to enable themes:
    Currently KDM-themes are not enabled by default in debian!
    Make shure, that there is a "UseTheme=True" line in the
    [X-*-Greeter]-stanza in your /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc!

    * how to change themes:
    If enabled, KDM uses its circles theme by default, to change this, just
    change the
    "Theme=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/circles" line to
    "Theme=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/Krystal"!

    NOTE: You have to restart KDM after you've made changes to the kdmrc!

        The grey login box problem is still there.
