i have installed WINE and it works fine except for the sound. the sound comes out like it is skipping and and all broken up and choppy. can anything be done to correct the sound? also have win xp installed on the other side and sound works fine with these games. run the 7.04 version of Kubuntu

Best thing is probably to run winecfg and try a different driver in the audio tab. For example try OSS if it is presently alsa.
If this doesn't work try reducing sound hardware acceleration from full. -

i have tried several combinations and i can get some voices to sound pretty good but i think the problem with it no is that the game is running slow or choppy and messing with the sound what is the best setting to set up games in WINE as im not having much luck with games and WINE.Comment

The games run properly but they don't perform well?
Is the performance drastically different under windows?
Can you tell us what game and what processor, amount of ram, and graphics card you are running?
Can you paste the results from the terminal of
glxinfo | grep direct
and
glxinfo | grep OpenGL
