    mp3 to wma conversion

I'm trying to convert mp3 files to wma for use in a certain external player. I've tried the Perl audio converter but the converted files are huge & the player doesn't recognize it.

Is there any other program that can do it? can mplayer do it? If so how?

    Many thanks

I checked out audacity but it doesn't handle wma.

      Thanks

K3B will convert from one format to another but I don't think it will do WMA. Your player must be able to play something else, WAVE perhaps, which K3B will do.

Natively, I don't believe you can convert directly from mp3 to wma format. However, there are plenty of options to convert from mp3 to wav and then from wave to wma within Linux. It isn't straight forward, but ...

You're right, I think most do convert to WAV first then to whatever. I tried lame and it converted ok but my player still wouldn't recognize.

M$ Media Player probably does a straight conversion & my player recognizes it - I guess I'll have to monkey around with wine and try to get MMP running on it.[ugh]

            Thanks for the help anyway.
