i have found a solution to get around dial up modem problems.
i found this modem at Fry's Electronics Actiontec Dual Pc Modem Model# GS002AN2-01
It cost $49.99 and the website for Fry's is http://www.outpost.com
The modem Manufactures website is http://www.actiontec.com
you plug in your phone line in the data in port and plug in your ethernet cables into the one of the other ports. plug in the modem.
then open a web browser and follow the simple instuctions to set up your modem. and confgure your ISP and then when it is set up just click on the staus button then click connect i had to click it 2 times as the first time did not connect.
i got this last night and i have not lost a connection yet and it works for me. hope this will help all of those with dial up modem issues and its is cheaper then the U.S.Robotics 5610 they sell for 79.99
