Turning on the updater

Hi... wondering if someone can help me out. I've noticed a lack of updates lately and think I may have turned the auto updater that starts on boot up. I've spent time looking in the system settings but cant seem where to turn it back on.
I can do the updates through konsole but would rather do it through the gui as opposed to konsole.
can anyone help?
