wine + half-life

I recently bought this Linux computer after using Win95 for a long time. Old Dos user here. And I want to play Half-Life on it. When i start half-life, it loads fine but the half-life banner in the menu is off-color. When i click new game the program crashes and resets the resolution to 640*480. Of course i'm using wine. Someone said that wine should not be hidden.

my video card is ATI Radeon (fglrx)
Step by step guidance would be appreciated!

I forget where but I did see a few places where the were working on installing half-life...I think one of them didn't use wine though... so let me see if I can find them now...

But yeah, I was just thinking of trying to install it too, what is your wine configured like? And do you have any native windoze .dlls?

Thanks for the links. No i don have that .dll Do I need it?
I guess I have to download steam. How do i find out which version of wine i'm using.
i wish this was easier.

This is off-topic, but the audience is the same ... I recall that Unreal Tournament 2004 had a Linux version. Did it come on the same DVD? I bought the game back then and have it "somewhere" -- just want to make sure if it's worth the effort of going through several boxes of stuff.
