I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to install my video driver (I downloaded it already). I have spent hours looking at other explanations and FAQs and have gotten nowhere. I would really appreciate it! I need my 1440 x 900!

Please post the chip manufacturer and model number (i.e. nVidia GeForce 7600, Ati Radeon x1650) so we can better assist you. -

I tried the "Install package option, but it says a lot of stuff isn't installed.

It's just complaining about dependencies. Open a Konsole and type:
This should get the dependencies.Code:sudo apt-get install --fix-broken
