    Dvd Install

Well i recently got ahold of the new kubuntu as of january 13 and am trying to install to my dell insperion 8100 laptop:

    1.0 ghz Intel M 512mb ram Nvidia Geforce2go
cisco 350 wireless Dead Backlit screen.

I havent had much success though.....during install when it goes to copy to the hard drive the cdrom pops up with a message that the cdromdrive is not able to be read.

OK the Exact Error message that i recive is:

"The installer cannot figure out how to install the base system. No Installable Cd-Rom was found and no valid mirror was configured."

1.) I know the cdrom works and can be installed from. (gentoo,Xp,Me,NT,200,9x work just fine)
    a) Though i've gone through about 10 images from ubuntu and kubuntu. Cd and dvd.

2.) I can get the installer to begin installing the files to disk if i unmount and remount using the auto detection system in the installer menu.

I cannot find a way though the installer menu to do a network install and i'm not too sure how to set it up...i've done a debian boot disk before for a network install ages ago though....

    Follow up to #2:
After remounting the cd-rom the installer will start placing about 20% of the files down to disk though it stopps around boot strapping and gives the error message above. Though from this point unmounting and remounting the drive doesn't work anymore.... Though i can still switch terms and move about the menu.

    Extra:
Every once in a while i do recive a message stating that the problem may be from the disc being dirty/not in the drive/to burn at a lower speed

1.) The disc s are straight off the spindle
2.) I can see the disc in the drive
3.) Is there a half speed to burn at Cuz 1x wasn't slow enough i guess heh

I appreciate any help that everyone can give. Thank you in advance for everything.

I'm having the same problem. Remove the Cisco card and then try again. Mines installing right now, and its fine. I had to remove my Airlink card, because it was getting stuck for some reason.
