Screen goes blank after attempting install Kubuntu...SOS

Hi everyone!

This is my first time attempting to install Linux OS. I am nervous but thrill at the same time; i know there are many smart people out there that can help me.

i have a problem installing Kubuntu into my laptop. After several minutes of waiting, the screen goes black. I've tried ALT +F1 and enter username/password but nothing happen . Please help me...



I have a lifebook laptop with 1.8 GHz CPU, 1.5 GB of RAM, 256 Mb of ATI Mobility Radeon x1400 and 100 GB HDD.

there is a problem that i do not understand.

Just continue. You are being told that a backup of the existing /etc/X11/xorg.conf file is being made as /etc/X11/xorg.conf20070922174014.
