    Software Gnome V KDE

I'm new to all of this Ubuntu and Kubuntu stuff. So I have what is no doubt an question with an obvious answer. That being said I don't know the obvious answer.

I installed Ubuntu and liked it but didn't find it friend from an Windows user standpoint so I installed the Kubuntu packages and like it much better but I am wondering about my software choices.

Does the the choice between Gnome and KDE limit what software I can run?
Does Kubuntu run GnuCash, Gimp, GCompris, and other software that starts with a G or a GNU?

    thanks,
    -k

    yes

gnome and kde are just desktop environments.
the underlying operating system is the same.
gnome is based on the gtk graphic libs.
kde is based on the qt graphic libs.

as soon as you try to install a gnome app under kde via your package manager,
you'll see that the gtk libs will also be installed alongside it (unless already installed).
