2 problems related to each other

i am trying to get firefox working on two different laptops (toshiba satellite and dell inspiron 2200). the toshiba has an icon in the programs menu. it actually says firefox web browser. when i click it, the icon jumps up and down for a bit then disappears. the dell....it tells me it is missing a lib file. it appears that flash will not play unless firefox is working. i really want to make this transition over to linux but i just seems these things are much easier with windows.

    please, help.

I have found that one good way to properly install the latest Firefox/Thunderbird on Kubuntu is to use the ubuntuzilla script at http://ubuntuzilla.wiki.sourceforge.net/
