now I know kubuntu rocks, found a WIFI that works out the box

yes, installed ndiswrapper ages ago and went though D-link, compaq and others no joy rant rant etc but today I just borrowed a zyxel USB wifi key and pluged it in and here I am, proof that linux has arrived at my idiot level, so if anyone else has an out of the box working wifi gadgit please let me know as I will have to give this back soon. thanks

oh and if I sound really happy, it is because I am, I really feel that now I can safely install linux of friends computers, and I intend to take my compaq persario 1200 for a spin in the bistro this afternoon

I second the request, I've been looking around for an out of the box experience more specifically with a usb wifi adapter. It would be VERY handy in those tough situations at college when someone approaches me with an Ubuntu laptop asking me how to do things, I usually require a net connection right there and then.

Could you post the model number if you still have the key on you please ? (if theres one printed on the case) I currently have an Internal Intel card using the IPW 2200 driver, its an out of the box experience over the *buntu's but it would be handy to have a key too.

The MSI US54SE is mentioned in this blog: http://www.murrayc.com/blog/permalin...aptor-results/

It is available from Amazon in Germany. Of course the site is only in German. Using translation software I was able to buy one.

Thanks for the great post, seems the MSI stick is the "out of the box experience" from edgy onwards. There are a few listed on eBay based in Germany but shipping worldwide so ill be picking one up in a few minutes.

        Thanks again

the zyxel usb wifi key I mentioned is ZyXEL ZyAir G-220 v2 but it works from installing ndiskwrapper but I think we should have and build a sticky for kubuntu newbies on out of the box(or near out of the box stuff)
