Try as i might I couldn't find any info on erasing cdrw's 6 trys and all failed 
I got to thinking the error said couldn't open device exclusively so I unmounted
the cd burner and lo and behold i have an empty cdrw
This was so simple and it took me a week to figgure it out :P
so I thought I would put it here for other noobs
hope this helps anyont that needs this info
