    kde wallet

a kdewallet window pops up asking for my password, however I have never configured kwallet, so I don't know one. How do I access kde wallet so I can configure it and a password? Please be rather specific as I am a computer neophyte. :P

i think, unless you otherwise state, the wallet password is the same as your log on. At least mine is.

I thought that too, but for some reason it is not. So, can any one tell me how to access Kwallet?

        Re: kde wallet

by default, the wallet password should be the same as that
of the user you set up when you first installed your system.

        what happens if you:
        a) log in
        b) hit alt-f2
        c) enter the following command
        Code:
        kwalletmanager
the kwallet manager gui should have started up.
and you should see a wallet icon in the system tray.

        now...
if you click on it, the gui window will open up and you will either:
        a) see a default wallet in it, called kdewallet
        b) see nothing

in case of a), you have already opened the wallet once.
you should then be able to right click on the wallet and select
the change password... option, that will allow you to set
a new password for your wallet.

in case of b), you have never opened the wallet
and the password should be that of your own user.
if it isn't...well...at the moment i can't help.

but let's see the rest, first... 'll wait for your feedback...

          Re: kde wallet

I have the little wallet icon on my desktop, but when I opened it there was no place to change password. But there was a place to stop the kdwallet system, so I just took the easy route.
Thanks for your help. I don't know why my initial password quit working, now that I think about it, it was working initially, oh well
