If you have mounted it as ntfs , not ntfs-3g (or was it something elese) you need to be root to READ the files.

"sudo konqueror /media/windows" should show you what you have there.

Try alt+F2 type kdesu konqueror, give your userpassword at promt. You are now in konq for root so watch out what you are doing.

I had the same problem a while back, it is the way things are set up by default in KControlCenter. You can change this there, but I would suggest setting it to ntfs-3g and not just ntfs. ntfs only gives you read support, and only to 'root' by default. If you set it as ntfs-3g you get nearly complete write support and it is enabled for all users. However, this cannot be done through KControl (System Settings).

I can only say, that with my installation - and I do not have ntfs-3g installed - I can access my M$ ntfs partitions as a normal (non-root) user. System Menu | Storage Media allows this. Konqueror allows it also.

Good for you, what installation is that? Because on most Kubuntu Feisty Fawn and Gutsy Gibbon, it doesn't work like that by default. Do you have write support as well?

Write, no. Just read. But as stated, I have that under my regular user account - I don't have to access the partitions as root.

I'm running Kubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04.
