    mp3?

this isnt really a problem, more of an inquiry. do any of the linux distributions come already compatible with mp3 files or is it just some of them? because i had to download some sort of patch for kubuntu and xubuntu to make them compatible with it. and im pretty sure the same goes for Fedora and ubuntu.
thanks a bundle in advance for answers and help.

    Re: mp3?

The codecs required to play mp3 formats are proprietary (non-free). Legal issues surrounding proprietary drivers limits distributions from including them. That said, and as you found, they can still be gotten and installed.
