transferring files between linux and windows

I plan on having two computers and one will have Windows installed and the other one I plan on having Kubuntu.

Which is the best way to transfer files if I needed to? How should I set my computers up? What do you recommend?

I have used dual boot systems but I think it will be better to have each computer to have linux and windows respectively.

Perhaps, have the Windows machine with a small partition of FAT32 and then network them? Or is there a better way? (I hope so).
